Wasted! The Story of Food Waste Comes to the BCT

Use Everything, Waste Nothing

Forty percent of the food in America is wasted. A new documentary, WASTED! The Story of Food Waste, aims to change the way people buy, cook, recycle, and eat food. Through the eyes of chef-heroes like Anthony Bourdain, Dan Barber, Massimo Bottura, and Danny Bowien, WASTED! exposes the criminality of food waste and shows how each of us can make small changes – all of them delicious – to make the most of every kind of food.

This viewing is sponsored by the City of Bloomington and the Bloomington Food Policy Council in support of the 2018 Sustainability Action Plan, which has specific goals related to food and waste. Join us for a short post-film community conversation about food waste and local efforts to get “unwanted” food to the best place. Doors will open at 3:30pm. The event is free and open to the public. The film is 90 minutes, and with an introduction and post-screening talk, the entire program is expected to last about 2 hours. Visit the Buskirk-Chumley Theater’s site for more great events.
