What a Long Strange Trip: Pie, Celebrating St. Patrick, & Caring for One Another

Today is the day that our family had planned on packing up and driving to Chicago to attend the Inspired Home Show, a housewares show which brings together 130+ countries and welcomes more than 50,000 visitors.  The first inclination that we were not in ordinary times came weeks ago when this enormous trade show announced it would close its International Pavillion which this year, focused on China.  Promises of the show going on came to a halt as rising fear around COVID-19 engulfed planners.  The show was among the first major events to cancel.

To say that we are living in unusual times is indeed an understatement.  Decisions about canceling travel we have all longed for to relieve the Midwestern blues from which we all suffer appears to be the least of the worry.  As the owners of a small business, we are deeply invested in the health and safety of our families, our team, and this community we so dearly love. We are grappling with challenging questions along with other business owners, school administrators, families, county, and city officials.
